OUR COMMUNITY

Since 1984 our community has been historically witnessing the journey along with the steady growth of Sacred Heart Catholic Church Parish since then and now. Tamil catholic congregation here in Bahrain is estimated to be above 1000 comprising of families, singles and fishermen community.

OUR LADY OF VAILANKANNI FEAST

We annually celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Vailankanni during the 1st week of September with 9 days of Novena followed by Holy mass and on the 10th day concelebrated grand Festive mass to grace the occasion followed by chariot procession of our Lady of Vailankanni within the church premises, with the presence of devotees of Our Lady from multiple community members of the Parish

HOLY MASS AND PRAYERS

Regular obligation Holy mass is celebrated on every Friday at OLA and on Sunday at Mother church. On every Tuesday intercessory prayer is conducted at the Mother Church at 7pm followed by Holy mass dedicated to St. Anthony. Every Monday at 6:30pm, the Rosary is recited at the Mother Church and on the 3rd and 4th Mondays special holy mass is offered dedicating to Our Lady of Vailankanni. On every Friday 3 O’ clock holy hour adoration is conducted at the mother church, Praise & worship at 5pm and recital of holy Rosary followed by Holy Mass. Every Saturday a special charismatic prayer is conducted for petitions and intensions of the community.

LITURGICAL SEASON OF ADVENT AND LENT

Christmas Dawn Mass on the 24th, Christmas day Holy mass, Year End thanks giving mass and New Year Holy mass are celebrated with the brim of grace. The Lent season is led by special preaching priest and the Stations of the Cross is meditated before the Holy mass. Holy celebrations of Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Vigil Services are conducted gracefully to the spiritual need of the congregation.

COMMUNITY SPECIAL EVENTS & FAMILY CELLS

The Community is segregated in to 12 family cells named by Saints of the Holy Catholic Church based on various locations in Bahrain and revolving monthly meetings are held in respective household attended by the Spiritual Director. All community events and services are solely dedicated by the Family cells to grace the holy service. May 1st Labour Day is celebrated annually with various talent performance and games among the family cells. We hold Our Annual Day on the day of National Holiday of Bahrain on the 16th December, accommodating Christmas celebration, Carol singing, Christmas play and various talents among the Family cells. All events are contributed by the Family cells and individuals from the congregation.

CORE GROUP OF TAMIL CATHOLIC COMMUNITY

Under the guidance and leadership of Our Spiritual Director, the core group members representing the congregation lead the liturgical and all other activities of the community as a whole. The function of the core committee has been dedicated to liturgy, altar service, Choirs, Eucharistic, Legion of Mary, Intercessory, Charismatic, Youth, Usher, Novena and Public Relation of the congregation. The Core group coordinator is assisted by vice coordinator, Secretary and Treasurer to plan and organize all the events and activities of the community successfully.
